INHOUD MASTERCLASS
Aan de hand van de menselijke anatomie maken we deze week een mensvorm pop (van ongeveer 40 cm) losjes gebaseerd op de poppen van o.a. Winterwater.
Pluck, Noor en Tamar zijn ervaren poppenmakers en met een unieke blik op het maken van poppen. In deze masterclass zullen zij hun kijk met jullie delen en je begeleiden in het maken van een pop a.d.h.v. de menselijke anatomie. Stap voor stap leer je zelf een pop te ontwerpen en te bouwen. Hierbij zullen allerhande technieken en materialen voorbij komen.
Aan het eind van deze week heb je een zelf ontworpen en gemaakte mens pop.

PUPPET MAKING BY PLUCK VENEMA
This 5-day Masterclass will be led by puppeteer and puppet maker Pluck Venema. Course will include hands-on experience in design, mechanisms, sculpture, Worbla (thermoplastic), foam & painting.
INFORMATION:
Using human anatomy, this week we will make a human-shaped doll (of approximately 40 cm) loosely based on the dolls from, among others, the theater performance Winterwater.
Pluck, Noor and Tamar are experienced doll makers and with a unique view on making dolls. In this masterclass they will share their view with you and guide you in making a doll by using the human anatomy. Step by step you will learn to design and build a doll yourself. All kinds of techniques and materials will be used.
At the end of this week you will have a self-designed and made human doll.

Wat je mee moet brengen naar deze masterclass:
• Een verhaal of een scene;
• Een pop of object die je kunt laten bewegen. (Als je een pop hebt gemaakt bij de masterclass van Pluck, zie hieronder, kan je deze bijvoorbeeld meenemen);
• Alles waarvan je denkt dat je misschien kan gaan gebruiken. Denk dan aan materialen, muziek, andere teksten die met je verhaal te maken hebben.
INHOUD MASTERCLASS
Hoe kun je als speler schakelen tussen jezelf als acteur en object, pop, miniatuur, muziek en tekst?
Wat is per onderdeel, van het verhaal dat je wilt vertellen, de beste invalshoek?
We kunnen daarbij ook nog kijken naar welke afstand het nodig heeft tot het poppenspelen. Het in- en uitzoomen. Zien we iets van dichtbij of ver weg, is het de verteller of de gedachte van het personage, laat je alleen een detail zien dat meer zegt dan heel veel uitleggen met woorden of met beeld?

What you need to bring to this masterclass:
• A story or a scene;
• A doll or object that you can make move. (For example, if you made a doll during the Pluck masterclass, see below, you can take it with you);
• Anything you think you might be able to use. Think of materials, music, other texts that relate to your story.
CONTENT OF THIS MASTERCLASS
How can you, as a player, switch between yourself as an actor and object, puppet, miniature, music and text?
What is the best angle for each part of the story you want to tell?
We can also look at what distance it needs from puppetry. Zooming in and out. Do we see something up close or far away, is it the narrator or the character’s thoughts, are you only showing a detail that says more than explaining a lot with words or images?

Workshop Duda Paiva – Object Score

OBJECT SCORE
Duda Paiva heeft een danstechniek ontwikkeld waarbij een levenloos schuimrubber object getransformeerd wordt tot een volwaardige danspartner – een eigen theatrale methode: Object Score. Doel is om leven te geven aan een fictief/poëtisch lichaam; een alter ego, een extensie van het zelf, waarbij het lichaam wordt gebruikt als landschap voor de pop en vice versa, om de ruimte te verkennen en choreografische motieven te creëren. Een zeer specifieke vorm van choreografie voor twee lichamen die onder dezelfde geest functioneren.
De Object Score methode is geschikt voor acteurs, dansers, poppenspelers, zangers en circusartiesten.

OBJECT SCORE
Duda Paiva has developed a dance technique in which an inanimate foam object is transformed into a full-fledged dance partner – a theatrical method of her own: object score. The aim is to give life to a fictional/poetic body; an alter ego, an extension of the self, using the body as a landscape for the puppet and vice versa, to explore space and create choreographic motifs. It is a very specific form of choreography for two bodies functioning under the same mind.
The Object Score method is suitable for actors, dancers, puppeteers, singers and circus performers.
